Returns and refunds

Each copy is printed for you after you order. Here is what happens if something is wrong, and what your rights are.

Damaged or misprinted books

If your book arrives damaged, bound wrongly, or with a printing fault (missing or repeated pages, smudged or faded ink, a cover that does not match the page), we send you a new copy free, anywhere we ship.

  1. Email hello@plainsighthouse.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the fault.
  2. We reply within two working days and send the new copy to print. In most cases you keep the faulty copy, we do not need it back.
  3. If you would rather have your money back than a new copy, say so and we refund the full price, shipping included.

This does not limit your legal rights. In the European Union and the United Kingdom, the law gives you at least two years to claim for goods that are faulty or not as described.

Changing your mind: European Union and United Kingdom

If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you can cancel your order within 14 days of receiving the book, without giving a reason.

  1. Tell us within those 14 days by email at hello@plainsighthouse.com, with your order number. A short sentence like "I want to cancel my order" is enough.
  2. You do not need to send the book back. Each copy is printed for you, and posting it back across borders costs more than it is worth to either of us. Keep it, give it away, or pass it on.
  3. We refund the price of the book and the original shipping within 14 days of your message, to the card you paid with.

Changing your mind: other countries

For orders outside the European Union and the United Kingdom, we cannot take a book back because you changed your mind, since it was printed for you. Faults and damage are always covered, as described above.

Cancelling before printing

You can cancel for a full refund until your order goes to print. Orders go to print within one working day of payment, and pre-orders on the date shown at checkout. Write to hello@plainsighthouse.com as early as you can.

How refunds are paid

Refunds go back to the card or payment method you used, through Stripe. Your bank usually shows the money within 5 to 10 working days after we send it.
